• The cost of a solar panel installation varies depending on factors like capacity, technology, brand & type (off grid/on grid/hybrid) of solar system. The cost of solar installed ranges from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80,000 rupees per kilo watt peak for residential systems & for industrial it depends on the size of the plant. with subsidy this price can be reduced to as low as 30000 per kilowatt.

• The area required for installing solar panels depends on the total number of solar panels and the area of one panel. As a rule of thumb,  for smaller systems like 1 kW of solar panels can be installed in 80-100 sq. ft shadow-free area on roof top or metal sheets . For larger set up the required area with big size solar panels (above 500 WP) is much lesser.  For example, to install a 7.5 kW system with 15 nos. 500 wp panels the required area will be approx. 400 sq.ft.

• Yes, you can run air conditioners or heavy loads on solar. However, it depends on the capacity of the solar system installed. For example, a 5kW solar system can run almost everything in your house like 1 no. 1.5 ton AC, 1 no.TV, 1 no. fridge, 1 no washing machine,  1 no. 1 hp water pump, 10 LED lights, 5 nos fans etc. Even you can run your industrial loads like big motors, coolers almost everything by solar.

• Solar panels can work in rainy seasons but the amount of electricity generated will be less than what is generated during sunny days. The efficiency of the solar panels decreases when there is less sunlight. However, the amount of electricity generated will depend on the capacity of the solar system installed and the amount of sunlight available .

• The return on investment (ROI) of a solar panel installation depends on various factors such as the cost of the installation, the amount of electricity generated, and the cost of electricity. The ROI can vary depending on the location and the availability of Govt. subsidy as well. However, the return of investment is expected within 4 to 8 years depends on the aforesaid factors.

Solar Panels are made to last more than 25 years. In fact, many solar panels installed as early as the 1980s are still working at expected capacity. Solar panels are not only reliable, the longevity of solar panels has increased dramatically over the last 2 decades. Many solar manufacturers back their products with 25-30 years of performance guarantees in their warranties.

Keep in mind that expected solar panel life expectancy doesn’t mean the panels on your roof will stop generating electricity after 25 years. It just means their energy production will decrease by 20-30% after 25 years.

Solar power plants require very little maintenance as there are no moving parts. In India especially, is to keep the surface of panels dust free by washing with normal water. Occasional inspection and checks of the solar modules & battery water level in off grid system ensure the performance efficiency at optimal levels.
